Love, laughter & happily ever after — these words perfectly describe Lakshmi & Preetham’s story, which is nothing short of a fairytale. We were ecstatic to be part of their intimate yet vivacious Telugu wedding ceremonies, hosted at the opulent Taj Falaknuma in Hyderabad.
Since it was our first destination wedding amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, we were a potpourri of emotions. Overwhelmed, nervous, yet super excited — the celebration was not only fun but also a blessing, as we got to know two incredible souls, Lakshmi & Preetham.
Telugu weddings are an experience in themselves, with vibrant traditions like the Thalambaralu & Pellikuthuru that make them a photographer’s dream. To share more about this journey, here’s a short Q&A with the bride, Lakshmi, as she walks us through her story, the wedding planning, and her favorite moments.
RB: Tell us about yourself — how did you meet, the proposal, and the wedding?
Lakshmi: Preetham and I met in college when we were 18 years old. We’ve known each other for 11 years. We are best friends with a connection so strong it almost feels telepathic.
Through many ups and downs, fate brought us together. We were meant to be, and that’s how we knew we were soulmates! The proposal was very natural — he gave me a promise ring, which I later incorporated into my engagement ring.
Both our families mingled so well when they first met, and everything felt so smooth. It truly felt like destiny.
RB: Tell us about the wedding destinations. Why did you choose them and what made them special?
Lakshmi:
Mehendi & Sangeet — These were hosted at my farmhouse. I had a very clear vision for the decor — a French-themed design, beautifully executed by RVR Events. I didn’t want the usual bright colors, so we went for pastel hues. On a sun-kissed afternoon, the setup looked dreamy and perfect, just as I had imagined.
Reception
Our reception was held at Hotel Hyatt, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. After considering multiple options, we chose Hyatt for its amazing food and outdoor setting. I wanted neutral and earthy tones for the decor, and that’s exactly how it turned out — elegant, aesthetic, and perfect for a night filled with music, laughter, and celebration.
Wedding
The wedding itself took place at the Taj Falaknuma Palace. Since it was during the Covid era, I wanted the venue to feel like home — but a royal one! Falaknuma gave me that feeling. The palace was breathtaking, the food divine, and the service impeccable.
Getting married in the Darbaar Hall was a surreal dream come true. With its intricate baroque architecture, the venue hardly needed any additional decor. We kept the setup minimal to highlight the palace’s natural grandeur — and it turned out to be absolutely perfect.
From a pastel-themed Mehendi to a grand royal wedding at Falaknuma, Lakshmi & Preetham’s celebration was truly one for the ages — intimate, elegant, and magical.
